Welcome
Sometimes I feel too large for my skin, as if my body is stunted at a mere 5’6’’ and another two inches of bone or another role of flesh might contain what vibrates within. Maybe it’s as easy as blaming simple anatomy, but all of the need and desire, envy and drive—all of these emotions I can’t put my fingers around and strangle into a submissive hum—press at the surface of my skin, stretching it taught over bone like a balloon blown too tight, until it’s vibrant red rubber turns a desperate shade of pink and explodes into a million tiny pieces.
I’m surprised my skin has never exploded.
At least, that’s how my protagonist, Maddy, feels in my Upmarket Women’s Fiction novel, PIECES OF US.
And that’s how I feel sometimes, too. I think all creatives do. But having a passion, an art, gives me an outlet for all of these big emotions.
I’m a writer, actor, singer, mother; tuck in and stay awhile—I’d love to share my art with you.
XX, Emily
